Tonight was the Simmons Speakout for Peace in Java City. I really appreciated it. It was quiet, close knit, and honest. It opened with a dance from three students. The dance was choreographed specifically for this event- it was moving.
It was followed by students standing up and speaking out- many students who had previously not shown personal emotion during public events like this opened up. I feel like this was a great way to start the event- it was an event for healing.
I was feeling a bit burnt out earlier today- so ready for Thanksgiving. But this event recharged me to create some action.
Thanks to those who created the event, and those who participated in it, it was meaningful and important for our community!
I'll post pictures tomorrow.
