KWANZAA celebration Thursday, December 4 6-8:30 PM

Here's info from the facebook invite:

Hosted by Black Student Organization, in the Linda K. Paresky Center.

Kwanzaa is an African-American and Pan-African holiday that celebrates family, community, and culture. What other way is there to reaffirm the bonds between us?

In Kwanzaa, there are seven principles: Umoja (unity); Kujichagulia (self-determination); ujima (collective work and responsibility); ujamaa (cooperative economics); nia (purpose); kuumba (creativity); and imani (faith). During this day, besides reading poems pertaining to the holiday and eating dinner, we light the seven candles (principles) in light of what Kwanzaa stands for.

Hope to see you there!
